newly made island unit

Pond Cottage Antiques — Sun, 27 Sep 2026 16:18:55 +0000

Bespoke Antique Drawer Island Unit.

A superb bespoke kitchen island unit, newly made around a collection of original antique drawers, combining the character of period furniture with the practicality of a purpose-built island.

The unit is painted in a deep traditional distressed black, with 12 original drawers arranged across the front, each retaining its individual aged character and original-style brass knob.

The ends are finished with attractive fielded and moulded panels, giving the island a particularly smart country-house appearance.

The island is topped with a substantial solid reclaimed and repurposed oak worktop, then left in its natural finish to show off the beautiful oak grain.

A generous open shelf runs around the base, providing useful additional storage and display space.

The combination of genuine antique drawers, newly constructed cabinetry and a quality oak top makes this a particularly versatile piece — equally suited to a large country kitchen, farmhouse, utility room, boot room or as a striking freestanding storage island.

A unique piece of bespoke furniture with the character of antique drawers and the practicality of a modern kitchen island.

Measuring

1600 x 825 x 905 high

A magnificent antique Eastern European pine glazed display dresser, dating from approximately 1880–1910.

A particularly impressive and substantial piece, constructed in beautifully figured Eastern European pine, with exceptional natural grain and character throughout.

The dresser has a large glazed upper display cabinet with multiple shelves, sitting above a generous enclosed cupboard base with three panelled doors.

The craftsmanship is especially attractive, with reeded and carved corner pilasters, decorative carved motifs, shaped mouldings and a substantial architectural cornice.

The whole piece stands on distinctive turned bun feet, giving it a wonderful period presence.

The lower cupboards provide excellent storage, while the glazed upper section is perfect for displaying china, kitchenalia, antiques, books or collections.

The pine has a lovely naturally aged appearance, with wonderful figuring, knots and variation in colour that are characteristic of old Eastern European pine.

The combination of the large scale, decorative carving and practical storage makes this an unusually impressive example.
