The chest comprises four graduated drawers, each fitted with ornate antique brass handles and central escutcheons.

The drawer fronts are framed with moulded oak detailing and have a lovely, deeply patinated colour developed naturally over many years.

One of its most striking features is the decorative geometric inlaid band running across the frieze and continuing down the front corners.

The contrasting timbers create an attractive chequered effect and are a lovely example of the craftsmanship found on quality Victorian furniture.

The chest has panelled sides and stands on attractive shaped feet, with the whole piece retaining a wonderfully rich, warm antique finish. The oak has plenty of natural marks, grain variation and signs of age, giving it the character you would expect from a genuine Victorian piece.

A particularly practical feature is that the chest separates into two sections. This makes it considerably easier to move and means it can be delivered and installed even where there are small, narrow or awkward staircases — a very useful feature for an antique chest of this size.

A lovely and unusually decorative piece of Victorian oak furniture, combining excellent craftsmanship, figured oak and attractive original inlay.

Some wide boarded oak drawer bottoms have been replaced in oak and we will colour match these in a dark stain.

The drawer front is framed by shaped supports, with particularly appealing curved and scrolled corner brackets beneath the frieze. The square tapering legs give the table a simple, elegant stance, allowing the beautiful oak and decorative drawer front to remain the main features.

The table has a superbly mellow colour and genuine antique character, with the expected marks, shrinkage and surface wear associated with a piece of furniture of this age.

A very versatile piece that would work equally well as a hall table, lamp, occasional or sofa table.

The drawer bottom has been replaced along time ago.

This rare and eye-catching piece would originally have been used as a promotional or presentation stand, most likely ended up in a bakery or shop setting.

This particular one is for competition.

The harvest bread competitions began in the 1890s to promote the new flower brand. These contests soon became prestigious within the baking trade, showcasing skill and reinforcing Hovis's reputation for quality. The distinctive hovis logo with its small letter 'o' shows that the cash desk was awarded as a regional price between 1895 and 1910.

Crafted in solid hardwood with a warm, rich patina, the stand has a beautifully aged finish that highlights its history and authenticity.

The glazed panel with its timeworn lettering adds to its vintage appeal, making it a true statement piece.

Raised on elegant square legs with a lower shelf for additional display or storage, it is both decorative and practical.

Perfect for use in a kitchen, café, farm shop, or retail space — or simply as a unique conversation piece in the home. It would also make a fantastic prop or collector’s item for those interested in advertising memorabilia.

A rare find with plenty of rustic charm and nostalgic appeal.
