A lovely Victorian pine specimen chest, retaining a wonderful amount of character and original charm.
Made from beautifully aged pine, this unusual chest features five graduated drawers, each fitted with its original turned wooden knobs.
The top 3 drawers open to reveal a superb bank of individual compartments, originally for storing and organising small specimens, tools, samples or other specialist items.
The compartmented drawer gives this piece a particularly interesting and versatile character, making it equally suited to use as a collector’s cabinet, artist’s storage, jewellery or haberdashery cabinet, or simply as an unusual piece of antique furniture.
The pine has developed a lovely warm honey-coloured patina, with plenty of natural marks and signs of age that add to its authentic Victorian appearance.
