A beautifully made new kitchen island, painted in the wonderfully soft Farrow & Ball Olive and carefully distressed to give it an aged, characterful appearance.
The island combines practical storage with a fantastic reclaimed old wooden butcher’s block to one side. The block has a wonderfully worn and time-aged chopping surface, complete with the marks, scars and patina that can only come from years of use, giving this piece a genuine country kitchen feel.
The island features a generous pine worktop, a large central drawer and two panelled cupboard doors, with an open shelving area beneath the reclaimed block providing useful additional storage or display space. The combination of the painted cabinetry, natural timber tops and old worn block gives the piece a lovely contrast of new craftsmanship and reclaimed character.
Finished with traditional-style iron handles and hinges, this would make a superb centrepiece for a country kitchen, farmhouse or utility room.
